Custom Club Fitting
Why custom
fitted clubs?
Imagine purchasing a suit off the rack without
be measured and tailor fitted. Chances are your suit will not fit the
way you want it to be! People come in different shapes and sizes, so
one standard size will not be suitable for everybody. It is better to
be measured and have the suit tailored for a better fit.
The same can be said when a set of clubs are bought
off the rack as opposed to a set of custom fit clubs. Clubs bought
off the rack will not be suitable for many golfers since every golfer
will be unique in physical attributes and swing characteristics. As an
example, a golfer that is tall may require a shaft, different in length,
than a golfer who is shorter in height. A golfer with a strong,
fast-tempo swing may require a stiffer flex or heavier shaft compared to
a golfer with a smooth tempo swing who may require a more flexible or
lighter shaft for their golf club.
In short, custom fit clubs are made exactly to your
specifications and your unique swing characteristics. With a
combination of the proper equipment and golf lessons from a certified
pro, you will surely have a chance on the golf course to get under
par!
What is the
custom fitting process?
In the custom fitting process, we will sit down
with you to discuss your game, your current equipment, your goals, and
whether you have taken lessons before or plan to do so in the future.
From there, we will measure and evaluate your current clubs and ask you
to hit a few balls to determine your swing speed, swing tempo, and
impact pattern.
You will also be asked to try our demo clubs will
be available for you to use so that additional information can be
obtained in the fitting process. Clubs with varying degrees of loft,
lie, grip size, length, and swingweight will be used.
At the end of the process, we will be able to
determine what will work best for you and offer you some recommendations
to help improve your game whether it is changing the size of the grips
to adjusting the lie of your clubs. The entire club fitting process
will take anywhere from 1-2 hours.
Some Common Problems Arising From Improper
Equipment
Lie Too Upright: A lie that is too upright on mid
and short irons will cause a golfer to hit shots that will tend to go
straight to the left of the intended target (called a pull) for a right
handed golfer.
Lie Too Flat: A lie that is too flat on mid and
short irons will cause a golfer to hit shots that will tend to go
straight to the right of the intended target (called a push) for a right
handed golfer.
Worn or Incorrect Grip Size: A grip that is
excessively worn out or incorrectly sized will lead to inaccurate
shots. Without the proper grip, the golfer's hand position will change
at some point in the swing, reducing the chance of returning a club to a
square impact position.
